General Questions:

What makes Living Soul Institute different from other yoga teacher trainings?

Students walk away with SO much more than a yoga teacher certification. Our yoga teacher training is a life-changing experience of deep spiritual formation and embodied healing.

Unlike many trainings, students have ongoing access to lead trainers who serve not only as experienced yoga professionals, but also as trauma-informed spiritual directors, Christian life coaches, and somatic practitioners. Instead of producing cookie-cutter instructors, we help students discover their own authentic teaching voice and style.

Can Christians Practice Yoga?

We approach this topic with humility and respect for both our faith in the Trinitarian God and the origins of yoga.

We are followers of the way of Jesus who practice Christ-centered yoga as a discipline of embodied awareness, prayer, and spiritual formation.

In Matthew 22:37-38, Jesus calls us to love the Lord with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. The practice of yoga is one way we can live that out, engaging our whole being in the presence of God so that we may love Him, others, and ourselves well.

We don’t believe that following God requires withdrawing from the world around us. Jesus met people in the middle of their everyday lives, sharing meals, attending weddings, and being present in space outside of religious institutions.

We recognize yoga as an ancient tradition with roots in a culture and philosophy beyond our own, and we approach it with humility, gratitude, and respect. We do not seek to appropriate or erase its origins, but honor the wisdom it carries for mental, physical, and nervous system health, while practicing in a way that authentically aligns with our Christian faith.

For us, faith-based yoga is a space where mind, body, and spirit integrate into God’s presence, and where we can nurture our formation in Christ through breath, movement, stillness, and prayer.

We don’t feel the need to defend one or the other, but simply hold to our personal testimonies of Jesus meeting us on the yoga mat.

Do I have to want to teach yoga professionally to join a training?

Not at all. Many students take teacher trainings simply for personal growth, spiritual formation, healing, or a desire to deepen their understanding of yoga.

Students come to training for many different reasons: navigating a dark season of life, feeling close to God on the mat, learning how to slow down and breathe again, or searching for an authentic, safe community.

Some students choose to teach, and others carry the practices back into their homes, relationships, and everyday lives.

Is Living Soul Institute accredited?

Yes. Our 200-hour and 300-hour yoga teacher training are accredited by the Yoga Alliance. Our Yoga Therapy is accredited by the International Alliance of Yoga Therapists (IAYT).

Is this only for women?

Not at all! We welcome anyone, and our previous training cohorts have included both men and women.

How much time should I expect to commit each week?

This varies slightly by training, but most students spend 5-6 hours each week taking Christ-centered meditation practices & yoga classes online or in-person, 3 hours live Zoom training, 2-3 hours of online homework assignments..There’s both grace and flexibility. We design our programs to be sustainable for real life and encourage students to move through the process at the pace that best fits them and their life.

Are there payment plans available?

Yes. We offer payment plan options for all major trainings.

Can I participate if I work full-time or have children?

Absolutely. Many of our students balance their training with work, caregiving, parenting, ministry, or other responsibilities. Our curriculum is self-paced to support real-life schedules and seasons.

Will I have access to recordings if I miss a live session?

Yes! We record all live sessions so that if students aren’t able to attend in real time, they can catch up or revisit the material later.

Will I feel prepared to teach after graduating?

Yes. Many students come into the training feeling unsure or intimidated by teaching. We move slowly, practice often, and help you develop confidence in your God-given teaching voice over time. Students also participate in a practicum experience before certification to make sure they’re prepared to teach.

Can I take this training for personal growth instead of teaching?

Absolutely. Many students primarily join for their own personal journey of formation, healing, and asking the hard questions in life. Teaching is not a requirement.

300-hour Yoga Teacher Training:

Who is the 300 hour training for?

This advanced training is for yoga teachers who are thinking about expanding beyond a traditional class context. It develops versatility and sustainable leadership, equipping them to serve diverse populations on a deeper level.

Do I need teaching experience before applying?

You need to have completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training prior to enrollment. That can be through Living Soul Institute or another qualified yoga school.

Can I transfer my credits from another yoga training?

Yes, many of our students transfer in from another training. Please reach out to [email protected] to see if your credits can be transferred.

Do I have to pursue Yoga Therapy afterwards?

Not at all. While our 300-hour training curriculum is also considered Part 1 of Yoga Therapy, many students take this training simply to mature as a yoga instructor. It helps them develop depth and discernment in their teaching, spiritual formation, and grasp of whole-person care.

Yoga Therapy:

How is a yoga therapist different from a yoga teacher?

Yoga therapists bridge the gap between modern healthcare and the real issues people experience in their bodies, minds, and souls. Yoga therapists often serve individuals or specialized populations, using a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach. They can be employed by hospital systems, counseling offices, or go into private practice as they support those navigating chronic illnesses, grief, eating disorders, trauma, and unresolved pain.

Can I open a private practice after graduating?

Yes. This training includes guidance on the logistics, ethics, and practical foundations of building a yoga therapy practice. Many graduates go on to work privately with individuals, small groups, or integrate yoga therapy into existing professions and ministries.

Does my RYT 500 count towards yoga therapy certification?

Yes, and it must be completed through Living Soul Institute’s 300-hour teacher training program, which includes Part 1 of Yoga Therapy. Your RYT 500 cannot be transferred in from another yoga school.

What is included in Yoga Therapy Part 2?

Yoga Therapy Part 2 includes an immersive, in-person training experience and 150+ hours of mentored practicum. It also includes advanced study in trauma, nervous system resiliency, chronic illness, women’s health, grief, spiritual formation, personalized support for diverse populations, and more.
